Temperature - how, what, and why...

Taking temperature in your consultation gives us so much information that we otherwise would have had to guess at.

There are there three main ways to take temperature - oral, axillary (under the arm) and rectal. Although rectal is the most accurate, it is only generally used in a hospital settings.

Oral is the most accurate for adults, and axillary is an easy way to get a reading with children.

It is also really empowering to educate your client about taking/tracking their own temperature and is a great conversation to have in your online consultation.

Remember that temperature reading give us insight into adrenal health, acute infection status, thyroid health, fertility/ovulation, cardiovascular, and general wellbeing!
